Cycle 2_Week 10

What are the three ways heat can be transfered?

The three ways heat can be transfered is conduction, convection, and radiation. Conduction is when objects are in directed contact with each other. An example of conduction is a pot on the stove. The better the object conducts heat, the faster it gets hotter. Examples of good heat conductors are steel, iron, silver, and copper. Convection is when heat causes an object to move up and down. An example of convection is rice being cooked. As the rice gets hotter, it raises to the top and as it cools, it sinks again. Radiation is when you can feel heat from a distance. An example of radiation is a camp fire. When you are at a camp fire, you can feel the heat come to you.

Week 2 _Cycle 9

Today in class we had to make a parachute. The goal of the lad was to get an egg on the ground safely and slowly. The challenge was that we had to get the on the ground in at least 10 seconds. If it is less than 10 seconds then that isn't good. The longer it takes to get to the ground, the better.

Cycle2_Week 8

Blogging was real fun. I learned how to do things that I never knew how to do. Using technology thought me how to do things by myself like creating a website. I never knew how to make websites until I used technology. I think i did well on blogging. I only missed one. I think I did well on keeping up on my blogs. One thing I could improve on is commenting on others and giving them feed back what they did well and what they can improve on.

Cycle 2_Week 6

I have learned that engineering is not science. Engineering is creating the artifiicial. You can do alot of things in engineering. Theres Biomedical Engineering which help make technology for health care. There is Computer Engineering which deals with microchips that are put into electronics that we all enjoy like computers, ipods, and video games. One last engineering is Marine and Ocean Engineering which deals with getting oil from underneath the ocean floor.
If I can choose any engeenering to do, I would choose Audio Engineering. I would chose that because I like make noises and sounds. I can use those sounds to live my dream. One of my dreams is to become a rapper. I can use my education that I know about Audio Engineering to make beats and things like that.

Cycle 2_ Week 5-Blogging In Schools

In Ms. Jenkins' class they use blogging the same way we do. Their teacher gives them their topic and they have to blog about it. They have to include supporting details and tell where they found their answer just like us.

Cycle 2_ Week 5- My Blogging

I think blogging has improved my writing skills. The first way is that I learned how to use my resources. I learned how to go to a different website or just go to google to look something up. Blogging definitly help me on the NJASK. I knew how to go back to the passage and look for the answer. I know I did good on the NJASK because og blogging. Technology has helped me and my friends connect; even if it was the cell phone or chatting on google. We learned new things from each other everyday.

Hooked On Science

The video was about how teachers can teach their kids science by using art. In they video they said art can relate to any subject. They also said students learn better because of hands on activities. I think I learn better with hands on too.

Open-Ended

Question: If the orbital speed of a newly discovered asteroid was found to be 18.61 kilometers per second, between which two planets would the asteroid's orbit be located?

Answer: The asteroids orbit would be located between Mars and Jupiter. Mars' orbit is 23.98. Jupiter's orbit is 12.99. the order would be Mars' orbit, the asteroid's orbit, and Jupiter's orbit.

Comments: Karina: I liked how you explained the solar eclipse. One thing you could do is add resource.
Nala:I liked how you explained the solar eclipse. One thing you could do is add resource.

Gaming Blog

The game that I am playing is Madden 10. Madden 10 is a football game that is played on the X-box360. I think Madden10 can be educational because its not violent and it uses scientifiic techniques. It uses the push and pull technique when you throw the ball. The stratgie you use to win is that you have to get into the end-zone more than the other team.

Week5_prompt1

When Jennifer placed 1.0 g of salt into one beaker, 1.0 g of soil into a second beaker, and 1.0 g of sugar into a third beaker. Then She then added 200mL of water to each beaker and stirred the contents for 3 minutes she created a solution. A solution is when you add something and it dissolves in a liquad. When Jennifer stirred the sugar, salt, and soil, it mad it dissolve faster.

Week 4_prompt 1

The Design Squad challenge was to design a drag racing car. The team with the fastest car wins. It might sound easy but the problem was they had to change a wagon or a bike into a the fastest race car would win the challenge. The strategies they use was that both teams brainstormed. The red team strategie is called direct drive. The problem with that is that the car can't go faster than the drill's top speed. The blue team uses the C.V.T technique. To me it seems like everyone is working well together. they are all listening to each other.
If I had the first problem, I jot down ideas. I would jot down ideas because the first problem they had was turning a wagon or a tricycle into a drag racing car.I learned that you can make wagons and bikes faster.

Week3_prompt2

Noble gases don't chemical bond with other elements.. They don't bond with other elements because of their valance shell. Their last shell is full so that means they don't need no more electrons. Would you what to eat when you are full? Well I hope you said no because thats hoe atoms are they don't want no more when their last shell is full.

Week2_Prompt2

When you put a solid, liquid,or a gas in a different container, they act differently from one another. To put a solid in a different container, you will probably have to break it down depending on what it is. An example of that is a table or a desk. Have you notice when you take a computer desk out of a box, you have to put it together, that's because if it wasn't broken down, it wouldn't have fit. Depending on the container you put a liquid in, it's shape would change. A liquid has undefined shape. It takes the shape of it's container. An example of that is milk. When are at school at you look in your milk container, you notice it has a square shape. When you put a gas in a container, you probably won't notice anything, that's because you can't see a gas. What you can't see is that the gas particles are going crazy, they are bouncing all over the place.

Week1_prompt#2

I think it's crazy how the Statue of Liberty change colors. First it was a copper color and now it is green. That is a physical change. It is a physical change because the color of the statue change. Also it still is made out of the same materials as before. I know this because in chapter 17 of my packet it says a physical change happens when it changes how something looks, feel, and taste.

Science

I like science because it has alot of funfacts and experiments. I also like because it has alot of hands on things you can do. The reason why I like science is because I learn how to make websites and things like that. It's pretty cool
